Notre Dame Commit Tabahn Afrik Lights Up OK Red Swimming Conference

This weekend, at the 2015 OK Red Swimming Conference Championships, future Notre Dame Irish swimmer Tabahn Afrik led Holland – West Ottawa to a huge team victory with two conference sprint records.

Final team scores:

  1. Holland – West Ottawa – 537
  2. Rockford – 390
  3. Hudsonville – 338
  4. Grandville – 258
  5. Grand Haven – 225
  6. East Kentwood – 217

Holland, on the west side of the state of Michigan, is known as a swimming powerhouse area, especially with their girls’ team. But at West Ottawa, Afrik is bringing some big attention to the local boys’ swimming scene as well.

Afrik swam a 20.50 in the 50 free and a 44.15 in the 100 free, both of which are new OK Red Conference records.

Afrik and the West Ottawa team will now march on to the Michigan Division I State Championship meet at Eastern Michigan University, across the state in Ypsilanti at the Division I State Championship meet.
