North Carolina State Champion Olivia Rhodes Commits to TCU

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Rising high school senior and North Carolina High School State Champion Olivia Rhodes has verbally committed to TCU as a member of the high school class of 2021.

“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Texas Christian University!! Thank you to my family, friends, and coaches for supporting me since day 1! I’m so excited to see what the future holds at TCU! Go Horned Frogs!!!😈🐸💜”

Rhodes, who trains with SwimMAC Carolina and competes for Charlotte Catholic High School, is primarily a sprint freestyler. In February, she won the North Carolina 3A State Championship meet in the 50 free, swimming 23.44. 3A is the 2nd rung, in terms of enrollment, of the North Carolina High School ladder, and Rhodes had the 4th-best time overall among the state’s high school state championship meets.

She has been a part of 3 straight high school state championship teams at Charlotte Catholic, and has a pair of relay titles to her name as well. The school has won 16 state team titles in program history.

She showed a huge progression in the month of February alone, where, for example, she swam the 6 best times of her career in the 50 yard free and in total knocked 1.3 seconds off her best time.

Rhodes’ best times are the sprint freestyles, though she’s also shown abilities in the 100 and 200 yard backstrokes.

Best Times in Yards:

  • 50 free – 23.34
  • 100 free – 51.14
  • 200 free – 2:01.89
  • 100 back – 57.11
  • 200 back – 2:03.00
  • 100 fly – 58.38

Rhodes joins a TCU team that finished 3rd out of 5 teams at last year’s Big 12 Championship meet behind Texas and Kansas. It was the team’s 2nd season under head coach James Winchester, and a one place improvement from the prior season.

Rhodes’ best time in the 50 yard free would rank her 10th in school history if repeated at the collegiate level. She joins Canadian butterflier Jeanne Dahmen as announced members of TCU’s class of 2021 so far.
