The Nebraska women shattered their school record en route to a win on night 1 in Iowa City, posting a 7:04.78 for the win. That broke their previous school record of a 7:07.35 set back in February at the 2025 Big Ten Championships when they finished 8th.
NCAA All-American Gena Jorgenson led off in a 1:46.34 and was followed by Beatrix Tanko (1:45.78), Riley Miklos (1:46.62), and Giulia Marchi (1:46.04). Their time tonight would have moved them up once spot at the 2025 Big Ten Championships.
Finishing 2nd in the 800 free relay was Washington State as the team touched in a 7:15.04. Lauren Wille notably led off in a 1:46.74, becoming the #3 performer in school history in the 200 free. The relay also included Tatum Janning, Ariel Wang, and Issabelle Parrish.
Washington State kicked off the night with a win in the 200 medley relay as the relay swam to a 1:36.77. The relay consisted of Anna Rauchholz, Emily Lundgren, Addy Lewis, and Darcy Revitt. They were just off their school record of a 1:36.51 that the same four swam back in February at the Mountain West Conference Championships.
Touching 2nd in the 200 medley relay was Miami-FL as they swam to a 1:39.03 while Iowa was 3rd in a 1:39.37, the 5th fastest time in Iowa history.
During a time trial, Illinois junior Kalina Nikolaeva swam the 2nd fastest time in school history with a 1:58.60 200 backstroke. The school record stands at a 1:55.62 set by Jessica Aveyard back in 2001. Nikolaeva entered the day with a lifetime best 1:59.88 that she swam at the 2025 Big Ten Championships.
Night one also featured the team diving event, an event that was originally proposed to be added to the NCAA lineup along with stroke 50s but were later taken away with the updated proposal. Nebraska won the team diving event with 298.30 points, finishing ahead of Iowa State that had 286.80 points.
