NCSA Finalist Quinn Marchionini Will Swim at UMBC in the Fall

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Maryland native and NCSA finalist Quinn Marchionini will stay in state for the fall, swimming at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).

I am incredibly excited to announce my commitment to swim and study at UMBC! Huge thanks to my family, friends, and coaches for all their support over the years! I’d like to thank Coach Matt for giving me this opportunity! Go dawgs!🐾

Marchionini attended Northwood High School, where he swam at the Maryland State Championships in February, finishing 2nd in the men’s 100 fly in 48.34, and he trains with the Rockville Montgomery Swim Club.

He swam at the NCSA Spring Championships in March of this year, where he qualified for the ‘A’ final in the men’s 50 backstroke touching in 22.41 to finish 6th overall. He also made the ‘B’ final in the 100 back and the ‘C’ final in the 50 fly, 100 fly, and 200 IM. At the meet, he swam new personal best times in the 200 back (1:50.02) and 200 IM (1:52.22).

Marchionini will also be working at UMBC as a sports photographer while he works towards his degree.

Marchionini’s Personal Best Times SCY

  • 100 fly- 48.34- 2nd
  • 100 back- 49.23- 3rd
  • 200 IM- 1:52.02- 4th
  • 200 back- 1:50.02- 4th

UMBC swims in the America East conference, where their men’s team was 2nd last year. They were only 50 points behind the Binghamton Men’s team, and will be looking to improve that finish to a 1st place this season.

Marchionini is coming in as a likely point scorer in all of his events. In the 200 IM, he would have been 4th on the UMBC team and he would have qualified 15th for the finals. On day two of the conference meet, he could be looking at swimming the dirty double with the 100 fly and 100 back. He would have made the ‘A’ final in both events at conference, qualifying 4th in the 100 fly and 7th in the 100 back. His 200 backstroke would also be a potential scoring event with his best time placing him 10th out of prelims.

He comes in with a recruiting class of Matthew Rotunda, Elliot Fielder, Matthew So, Braden Weise, Luke Eskola, Felipe Lira, and Tyler Kay.
