NCSA finalist Corey Beard has sent his verbal commitment to St. Bonaventure University for the class of 2026.
I am ecstatic to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic journey at St. Bonaventure University! I would like to thank my family and friends for supporting me along this journey, along with my coaches Jon and Dave for helping guide me in the pool. I am grateful for this opportunity given to me by Coach Mike, and I look forward to these four years!
Beard lives in Glen Ellyn Illinois where he attends Glenbard West High School. Last season, as a junior, Beard qualified for the 2025 Illinois High School State Championships in the 200 IM. At the meet, he finished 19th overall, touching in a new personal best time of 1:54.85.
A member of the Academy Bullets Swim Club, Beard primarily swims the IM and breaststroke events. At the NCSA Summer Championships in June, Beard qualified for finals in the 200 breast, swimming 2:27.63 in the prelims. He ultimately finished 24th in the final at 2:30.33.
At the Illinois Senior Championships in March, Beard set new personal best times in the 200 breast (2:11.75), and 400 IM (4:07.95). He followed that up with another lifetime best in the 200 breast at the NCSA Spring Championships, touching in 2:10.09 to finish 87th overall.

St. Bonaventure University is a member of the Atlantic 10, a Division I mid-major conference. Last season, they finished 2nd out of 8 teams, coming in 350 points behind the top team, George Washington.
Beard will help add depth to the IM roster, with his best times in the 200 IM and 400 IM coming in at 7th and 5th on the team last season, respectively. The Bonnies also picked up Ben Witmer, another IMer, for the class of 2026, who will be coming in with IM times slightly faster than Beard at 1:53.42 and 3:59.18 respectively.
They will be members of a large recruiting class for St. Bonaventure that includes Asher Cooper, Dillon Spooner, Duncan McClaren, and Sam Dellasega for the class of 2030.
