Women’s Recap

NAU turned in a tremendous performance at the 2026 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships, racking up 1350 points over the four days of competition to take home the championship title. The Lumberjacks’ victory marks NAU’s 13th consecutive conference title, having enjoyed a 12-year winning streak in the Western Athletic Conference before moving over to the MPSF this season.

Despite topping the team standings, NAU did not bring home any of the event victories on Saturday night. Instead, it was Northern Colorado who was the big winner on the final day of competition, prevailing in three events.

Maria Erokhina completed a sweep of the breaststroke events, winning the 200 breast in a lifetime best time of 2:10.84. Her performance broke the pool record and gave her her second qualification for the NCAA Championships, after already punching her ticket in the 100 breast.

Northern Colorado’s Kyra Rabess prevailed in the 1650 free, posting a personal best time of 16:35.33 to clinch the championship title by almost seven seconds. Fellow Bear Ellyson Lombardi won the 200 fly in 1:59.70, marking the only sub-2:00 performance of the night. Behind her, NAU’s Isahbel Krasht took the runner-up spot in 2:01.65, while teammate Elsa Musselman finished 3rd in 2:01.70.

The 200 back went to Ginger Kiefer of Idaho, who stopped the clock in 1:57.18 to take home the conference title. Her performance marked her third individual victory of the meet, having already won the 200 and 400 IM.

Idaho logged another top performance on the diving boards thanks to Maya Salvitti. Salvitti emerged victorious on the platform with a score of 280.95 points, breaking the pool record in the event.

NMSU’s Dijana Mazumdar enjoyed a great night, picking up two gold medals to close out the meet in style. She touched first in the 100 free, posting a best time time of 49.29 and marking the 2nd-fastest time in program history; her performance was just .01 off of the school record set by Aliena Schmidtke during the 2011-2012 season. The only other swimmer in the field to go under 50 seconds was Northern Colorado’s Martina Trionfetti, who claimed silver in 49.85.

Mazumdar was also a part of the winning 400 free relay, joining teammates Emily Dobbins, Caroline Constantini and Katie Rink to turn in an overall time of 3:20.12. Not far behind was NAU, whose team of Musselman, Kokona Watanabe, Kat Klatt and Kaci Kelaher stopped the clock in 3:20.92.

Men’s Recap

Air Force claimed the men’s 2026 MPSF Championship title, marking the team’s first conference championship victory since winning the Western Athletic Conference back in 2020. The Falcons were the only team to cross the 800-point threshold, securing their victory with 819.5 points, while UNLV snagged the runner-up position with 769.5 points.

Air Force’s performances on Saturday were highlighted by Tanner Wilson‘s victory in the 200 breast. Wilson stopped the clock in 1:54.28, logging a new lifetime best and breaking both the conference and program records in the event. He lowered the MPSF record below the 1:55 barrier for the first time, which previously stood at 1:55.17 and was set by Alec Cullen in 2023.

Meanwhile, UNLV freshman Kian Keylock claimed silver in the 200 breast with a time of 1:55.37, logging the 3rd-fastest time in Rebel program history.

Two more conference records fell on the final night of competition. CBU’s Mark Kovacsics won the 1650 free in 14:48.77, knocking over three seconds off of the former conference record (14:52.10) set by Victor Goichoechea back in 2014. Kovacsics’ performance on the opening 1000 (8:59.45) also marked a new school record.

Later on, UNLV’s Ian Bellflower set a new MPSF record in the 200 fly, touching first in 1:43.45 to shave just .02 off of the previous standard set by Vili Sivec in 2024.

Incarnate Word earned its first and only gold of the meet thanks to Luis de Oliveira, who threw down a time of 43.01 in the 100 free. The senior had already won silver in the 50 free (19.34) earlier in the meet, making him responsible for the team’s only two podium finishes.

Behind Oliveira, UNLV logged a 2-3 finish in the 100 free, led by Bryson Huey in 2nd with a time of 43.42, which marked the 6th-fastest time in school history. Ambrus Barcsak took 3rd in 43.51, landing him at 9th on the program’s all-time top ten list.

Simon Casey continued to enjoy a series of strong performances, with the Wyoming swimmer picking up two more victories on Saturday. Casey prevailed in the 200 back with a personal best time of 1:41.55, punching his ticket to the NCAA Championships. Casey went on to help bring home the championship title in the 400 free relay, splitting 43.08 on the second leg of the race and joining Jack Boysen [43.73], Jackson Kogler [42.88] and Luke O’Connor [43.12] to post an overall time of 2:52.81.
