Nate Mullens Latest Swimmer to Commit to NC State Early for 2018

We’ve seen a flurry of verbal commitments to North Carolina State University’s class of 2022 over the past several days. Now Nate Mullens has thrown his hat into the ring as well, verbally declaring his intention to swim for the Wolfpack in 2018.

Mullens is a junior at Hoover High School in North Canton, Ohio. He won the Ohio state title in the 50 free at the 2017 OHSAA Division I Swimming & Diving State Tournament in February, going a personal-best 20.45. He finished 8th in the 100 free and anchored North Canton Hoover 200 and 400 free relays. Mullens does his club swimming with Canton City Schools. He was a B finalist (11th) in the 50 free at the NCSA Spring Junior National Championship, and recently updated his LCM times in the 50/100 free and 100 fly at Arena Pro Swim Series Mesa.

His top SCY times are:

  • 50 free – 20.45
  • 100 free – 45.45
  • 100 back – 51.46
  • 100 fly – 51.78
  • 100 breast – 59.51

Never really heard this kid before… I did some homework and noticed that he dropped more than 1 sec in the 50 free this season. Looks like NCSU found a diamond in the rough
