Texas junior Nate Germonprez swam to a new over SEC record as well as SEC meet record, touching in a 1:48.94. That broke the old overall SEC record of a 1:49.59 set by Will Scholtz of Texas at midseason. The previous meet record was a 1:50.02 set by Florida’s Aleksas Savickas in 2025.

Germonprez was under the record the entire race tonight, and primarily was out faster tonight which was the difference maker. The biggest difference came on his first 50 when he was out 0.44 seconds faster than Scholtz was a year ago.
With his time tonight, Germonprez becomes the #10 performer all-time. He also takes over the top spot in the NCAA so far this season, ahead of Scholtz who had stood at the top with his time from midseason.
