Monday Night’s Session at CAC Games Cancelled Due to High Winds

The Monday night swimming session at the 2014 Central American and Carribean (CAC) Games in Veracruz, Mexico has been cancelled due to high winds at the outdoor Leyes de Reforma Aquatic Center.

Current temperatures in Veracruz, according to weather.com, are 70 degrees Fahrenheit with winds up to 33 miles per hour.

Among the races that were scheduled tonight included Albert Subirats in the 50 fly, after a 24.18 in prelims; and Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace in the 100 free, after a 55.55 in the morning.

The official announcement canceling finals has been announced at the pool. According to Elvis Burrows, who was scheduled to swim the 50 fly finals, one proposed plan will be to spread the races over the rest of the week, with any scratch fees for finalists waived.

Officials are also considering swimming tonight’s finals in the morning, and then swimming tomorrow’s prelims as timed finals.
