ST. LOUIS– The Missouri State women’s swimming and diving team swept the Missouri Valley Conference weekly awards (March 24) as Anna Miller was named swimmer of the week and Ashley Yarbrough was named diver of the week.

Miller put on an impressive performance over the Bears’ two-day dual at Indiana State this past weekend. Miller won the 50 freestyle (23.24) on day one while also recording a runner-up finish in the 100 butterfly (55.90). Miller’s day two performance featured an individual win in the 100 freestyle (50.88) while also swimming a leg in the 200 medley relay win (1:43.25).

“Anna has continued to impress us this season,” Missouri State head coach Dave Collins acknowledged. “Her ability to dominate relays and consistently improve on her performances is exactly what we need going into the conference championship in a few weeks.”

Yarbrough, a senior from Ballwin, Mo., was dominant in her showing at Indiana State. Yarbrough finished runner-up on day one (248.03) in the 1-meter dive while winning the event on day two (257.25). She also was victorious in the 3-meter dives, where she posted marks of 284.77 and 298.50.

“Ashley finished off her last dual meet very strong both days while competing on both boards,” head diving coach Jim Huelskamp said. “She showed how well she can manage her warmup and preparation to get the best performance.”

Both Miller and Yarbrough have garnered weekly honors multiple times this season. Miller was swimmer of the week back on Feb. 17, while Yarbrough was honored on March 10 and Feb. 3.

The Bears will conclude their season April 14-16 when they compete at the MVC Championships in Carbondale, Ill.
