SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The University of Michigan women’s swimming and diving team earned its first two wins of the season on Friday (Oct. 10), defeating Notre Dame, 218-82, and outlasting Wisconsin, 155-145, inside Rolfs Aquatic Center.

Michigan (2-0, 1-0 Big Ten) got off to a strong start as the quartet of Lexi GreenhawtDevon KitchelBrady Kendall and Stephanie Balduccini powered the Maize and Blue to a win in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:38.29.

Balduccini scored her first individual win of the meet in the 200-yard freestyle, posting a mark of 1:47.40 in her first race in the event since placing third at the NCAA Championships in March.

Hannah Bellard made her presence felt in the 200-yard butterfly, winning with a mark of 1:56.37, nearly three seconds ahead of the next-closest swimmer.

Kendall took care of business in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking a 22.46, while Balduccini followed with a win in the 100-yard freestyle at 49.73.

Anna Boemer tallied a victory in the 100-yard butterfly (53.60), and Bellard claimed the top spot in the 200-yard IM (1:59.99).

U-M closed out the meet with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Balduccini, Leila Fack, Kendall and Ella Jo Piersma combined for a time of 3:16.85.

Next up, Michigan returns to Ann Arbor to host Northwestern and UCLA on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 12 p.m. inside Canham Natatorium.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The University of Michigan men’s swimming and diving program earned its first two wins of the 2025-26 season on Friday (Oct. 10), downing Notre Dame 183-117 and Wisconsin 183-115 inside Rolfs Aquatic Center.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Tyler RayLuka MladenovicColin Geer and Antoine Sauve got the meet off to a strong start by winning the race with a time of 1:27.40.

Lorne Wigginton kicked off the individual portion of the meet with a win in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:03.77.

Sauve grabbed his second victory of the meet, clocking a time of 1:36.37 in the 200 free. Mladenovic secured his first individual triumph of the afternoon in the 100-yard breaststroke, posting a mark of 52.91 seconds.

Geer came out on top in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:45.32, while Ray logged the best time in the 50-yard freestyle at 19.80.

Eitan Ben-Shitrit put on a strong performance in the 200-yard backstroke, winning the event with a mark of 1:45.55, while Mladenovic grabbed his second individual win of the meet in the 200 breast with a time of 1:57.83.

Wigginton completed the sweep of the distance freestyle events, logging the fastest time in the 500-yard race at 4:25.66, while Ray outpaced the field in the 100 fly with a time of 46.54.

Geer closed out the individual events with a win in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:46.58 before the Wolverines won the 400-yard freestyle relay behind the efforts of Ryan Healy, Mladenovic, Sauve and Wigginton.

Next up, Michigan will return to Canham Natatorium to host Northwestern on Oct. 25 at noon.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The No. 15 Wisconsin Badgers women’s swim and dive team won six events in a triangular meet against No. 10 Michigan and Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, Friday afternoon. Wisconsin topped Notre Dame, 194.50-105-50, but fell just short of Michigan, 155-145.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Freshman Brooke Corrigan led the pack with a first-place finish in the 100 breast with a time of 1:01.96, as three other Badgers rounded out the top four. Bridget McGann and Hazal Ozkan rounded out the top three finishers in the event, with times of 1:02.43 and 1:02.61, respectively. Corrigan, McGann, Ozkan and Stella Chapman went one, two, three and four in the 200 back, as Corrigan finished with a time of 2:12.76.

Sophomore Maggie Wanezek found success in both of her events, taking first in the 100 back in 52.23 and first in the 200 back in 1:53.65.

Blair Stoneburg won the 500 free with a time of 4:51.77, as Maddie Waggoner finished shortly behind in 4:53.49.

In the diving well, Ryane Neal notched a top-three finish on the 1-meter with 282.20 points, and led the Badgers with a fifth-place showing on the 3-meter.

The Badgers will travel to Minneapolis for a Border Battle against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Friday, Nov. 7, at 5 p.m.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The No. 22 Wisconsin Badgers men’s swim and dive team notched multiple runner-up showings in a triangular meet against No. 10 Michigan and No. 25 Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, Friday afternoon. Wisconsin defeated Notre Dame 155-143, but fell to Michigan 183-115.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Yoav Romano finished second in both his events, going 9:09.42 in the 1000 free and 4:27.17 in the 500 free. The men’s 200 medley relay and 400 free relay A teams both notched third-place showings. Luukas Vainio took second in the 200 free with a time of 1:36.65. His teammate Enzo Solitario was not far behind with a time of 1:37.09.

In the 200 back, the Badgers collected four top-eight finishes. Adam Graham led the UW pack taking second in 1:46.38, followed shortly behind Landon Kyser in third.

Senior Jan Lanser grabbed a second-place finish on the 3-meter board, scoring 352.06 points.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Notre Dame officially opened the 2025-26 swimming and diving season on Friday, as the Irish played host to Michigan and Wisconsin at the Rolfs Aquatic Center. On the men’s side, the No. 25 Irish fell 117-183 to the No. 10 Wolverines and 143-155 to the No. 22 Badgers. The women fell 82-218 to 10th-ranked Michigan and 105.5-194.5 to 15th-ranked Wisconsin.

Notre Dame won six events, four on the men’s side and two on the women’s side.

The men started off the meet narrowly missing the victory in the 200 medley relay, as the team of Tommy Janton, Jack Armour, Dillon Edge and Shane Eckler posted a time of 1:27.43 to take second place, 0.03 off the top time.

From there, Irish record holder and U.S. National Team member Janton won the 100 back with a time of 47.24, and sophomore Eckler touched first in the 100 free with a time of 43.84. Eckler took second in the 50 free (19.91) with freshman Min-Gyo Jang following behind for third (20.41).

Seniors Daniel Knapp and Ben Nguyen won the diving events for the Irish, as Knapp’s 1-meter score of 324.25 earned the top spot, and Nguyen’s 369.00 in the 3-meter took home the win. Freshman diver Matthew Wong had a promising debut with a second-place finish in the 1-meter as well (313.70).

On the women’s side, diver Grace Courtney won both the 1-meter (291.40) and 3-meter (298.25), and Calie Brady notched second in both of those events (274.25/284.80).

Sophomore Carli Cronk took sixth in the 200 free (1:49.60) and fifth the in 200 fly (2:01.41).

As far as newcomers go, freshman Emily Hamill finished sixth in the 100 back (55.49) and second in the 200 back (1:59.27). Fellow rookies Kate Simon and Becky Rentz placed fourth and fifth in the 50 free, respectively (23.36/23.44).

Notre Dame will be back at the Rolfs Aquatic Center on Oct. 24, as the Irish host regional foe Northwestern for a dual meet at 3:30 p.m.
