The most decorated Olympian of all time and Baltimore Ravens superfan Michael Phelps is set to make an appearance on the September 22nd edition of Monday Night Football’s Manningcast between the Detroit Lions and Baltimore Ravens on ESPN2.
The Manningcast is hosted by retired NFL quarterback brothers Peyton Manning and Eli Manning, an alternative broadcast that regularly features guest appearances from athletes, celebrities, and coaches, among others. Phelps will make an appearance on the show along with actor Jeff Daniels and Indianapolis Colts starting quarterback Daniel Jones.
The show offers an in-depth analysis of the game from the two Super Bowl-winning brothers and features segments with guest stars.
Phelps has long been affiliated with the Baltimore Ravens, his hometown team, and befriended NFL Hall of Fame Linebacker Ray Lewis. Phelps has even credited Lewis with playing a pivotal role in returning to the pool for the London 2012 Olympics.
In an interview with Rich Eisen in 2012, Phelps said, “he helped me come back… without him I don’t think I would have been here for four more years.”
Phelps recently held swim lessons for the Ravens during the team’s training camp after Ravens players posted an Instagram video sharing that one in three members of the team did not know how to swim, hence, asking the most decorated swimmer in history for some help in that regard. Phelps also notably threw down a 9.98 25-yard freestyle off the blocks at the event.
In January of 2024, Phelps had the honor of delivering the game ball in the Ravens’ playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs alongside his oldest son, Boomer Phelps.
Phelps was born in Baltimore and trained under coach Bob Bowman at North Baltimore Aquatics (NBAC). During his career, he was given the nickname ‘The Baltimore Bullet’.

Watch out, you might not be able to handle so much charisma in one place!
…love it when MP does this kind of media…
He’s doing a great job! I had no idea that Eli Manning was a swim dad.
I think I remember it being in like a tide commercial or something.
Go Summit Area YMCA. We love having the Manning‘s part of our YMCA swim team
