Michael Phelps Completed Probation For DUI On Sunday

Sunday was a big day for 18-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps, as it was his first Father’s Day since the birth of his son, Boomer Robert Phelps on May 5th. But that wasn’t the only thing to celebrate over the weekend for Phelps. As of Sunday Phelps officially completed his probation from his DUI arrest back in 2014.

After being arrested on September 30th for DUI in Baltimore, Phelps was sentenced to 18 months probation after pleading guilty. During his probation period he was ordered to stay clean, meaning no alcohol or drugs. He was also ordered to attend self-help groups for 72 weeks. Phelps also took time away from the sport, entering a rehabilitation clinic for 45 days.

TMZ Sports has reported that a rep for the Maryland Dept. of Public Safety and Correctional Services confirmed that Phelps successfully completed his probation as of Sunday, June 19th.

Phelps has attributed a lot of the physical gains he has made since returning to the pool after rehab to abstaining from alcohol, and has vowed to not drink until after the Rio Games, at the earliest, if at all.

Congrats Michael, being a parent should change those choices for ever. Am proud of you and all the hard work it takes to make the good choices, and how wonderfully you are growing up. Good luck on your swims, enjoy being the dad, and best wishes.

Well, having a family will helped him be more willing to not get at all or not as much.

re.

Given this is a legal parameter MPs BAC was 1.4 . By comparison the levels of Turner & victim were 1.7 & 2.4 respectively .

I think you mean .14 and .17/.24, respectively. 1.4 I think would kill a horse.

Yes you both are right .4 will get you into ICU . No I doubt anyone has a higher tolerance but it could be something to do with brain receptors . Mostly experienced drinkers adapt their actions. Ironically it might be better to be the tipsy person who says /tweets the silly stuff rather than the very few worded guarded type.
An alcohol problem nipped the earliest is a life saver.

Best wishes to all young alcoholics .
