MIAMI, Fla. – The Marshall University Swimming and Diving Team picked up a 172.50-121.50 win in the Sunshine State over FIU in Miami on Tuesday afternoon.
I thought we got better as the meet went along, Herd Swimming and Diving Head Coach Ian Walsh said. It was fun to have a good group of fans in the stands this afternoon. We are really pleased with adjustments that were made. The intention through our racing was the best it’s been this season. We had several standout performances. Elyse had an exceptional showing in front of her home crowd today. Izzy, Lolo, and Mia did a great job splitting and executing their races well. Molly’s races really reflected the work she has put in, implementing some of the things we’ve been working on in practice recently. On the boards, Zoe had a strong showing on the boards, even through windy conditions today.
The Herd picked up nine first-place finishes in the dual. Maddie Emment took first in the 1000 (10:25.62) and 500 Freestyle (5:12.93).
Isabelle Cameron also took first in the 100 (1:05.86) and 200 Breaststroke (2:21.41). Molly Warner rounded out a trio for MU to win two events with victories in the 200 Freestyle (1:54.66) and the 200 Individual Medley (2:07.12).
Marshall also saw Mia McBride win the 100 Backstroke (57.53), Lauren McNamara in the 200 Butterfly (2:02.70) and the Miami native Elyse Wood in the 100 Freestyle (51.51).
