Marshall Receives Fourth Consecutive C-USA Weekly Honor

Conference USA has announced the winner of this weeks Swimmer of the Week in Marshall’s Madi Pulfer. Pulfer’s performance this weekend against Ohio in the distance free events earned her these bragging rights. The sophomore had the only two individual wins for Marshall against Ohio in the 1000 free (10:16.21) and 500 free (5:02.83).  Her 1000 time is not only a personal best, but it also secures her a spot in the Marshall top-ten all-time record book.

In her freshman season, Pulfer swam the fastest time in school history in the 500 free (4:49.19), which was good for a 5th place finish at the Conference USA Championships. At the same meet, she was part of the school record breaking 400 free relay. The Criminal Justice major was named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s  Honor Roll and earned the Conference USA Academic Medal.

This is the fourth time a Marshall athlete has won this award this season. Diving teammate Megan Wolons received the honor for three consecutive weeks this season. Pulfer is the first swimmer from Marshall to win this honor since Danica Ross won in this same week in 2014.  Furthermore, this is her first individual honor during her career at Marshall.
