Marlins of Raleigh Hire Former Team USA World University Games Coach Kevin Blum

The Marlins Of Raleigh Swim Team has hired coach Kevin Blum to be the head Sr. coach at MOR’s North Raleigh site. Kevin replaces coach Paul Monroe who retired from coaching to spend more time with his newborn son. Kevin comes to MOR most recently from Australia, but spent most of his time coaching Rattler Swim Club in the L.A. area. At Rattler he coached Olympic Trials finalist Andrea Kropp as well as serving on the US Staff for the 2011 World University Games. He founded Rattler Swim Club and built the team up to Silver Medal level in USA Swimming’s Club Excellence Program.

We are excited to have Coach Kevin join us at MOR. We first met as members of the staff of the loaded 2011 US National Select Camp in Colorado. When he contacted me, I was thrilled to have someone of his caliber interested in our position. It is a great job with 14 Ncsa qualifiers in the group he coaches and outstanding coaches who will continue to feed talented swimmers into that group.” said MOR head coach Paul Silver.

“When I saw how much talent was in the water during my visit to MOR, it really impressed me. Every day of the week there are 8 full-time professional coaches and a group of fantastic assistants who are all capable of coaching every level of swimming working and bouncing ideas off of each other in the office and on the pool deck. It’s a truly unique and ideal setup and I am very excited to hit the ground running! Coach Silver, whom I met at 2011 Select Camp, is a great ambassador of the sport and I’m looking forward to soaking in everything I can from his years of experience.” said coach Kevin Blum.
