After helping Marist men’s swimming and diving defeat Fordham for the first time since 2014, senior diver Peter Gallino was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men’s Diver of the Week. The conference announced its weekly award recipients Oct. 25.
Gallino placed first on the 1- and 3-meter boards in the Red Foxes’ 137-100 win over the Rams in Marist’s home opener Oct. 19. His score of 354.82 points in the 3-meter dive during the Red Foxes’ second meet of the season helped him earn a spot at the NCAA Zone Qualifier Diving Championships. The national meet will take place March 5-7 at Rutgers University. Gallino won the 1-meter event against Fordham with a total of 332.85 points, which was about six points shy of tying the school record set by Brian Bolstad in 2010.
Marist will battle MAAC foe Rider in its next dual meet at 1 p.m. Oct. 28.
