MOSCOW, Idaho – For the first time this season, Idaho Swim and Dive competed in the comforts of the University Swim Center, hosting back-to-back afternoon contests vs. Northern Arizona on Halloween and the University of Denver the following Saturday.

NAU came into Moscow riding high off of over a decade’s worth of success, having won the last 12 consecutive WAC titles before joining the MPSF alongside the Vandals in the offseason.

The Brave and Bold came into the matchup ready to make a statement and did just that, riding multiple historic performances to a 160.5-139.5 win over the 12-time defending league champs.

Big moments led Vandal Swim and Dive to the win, including a career outing from Marie Mason, who set a new school record of 10:09.11 in the 1000 Y Freestyle. The sophomore recorded the first record time of her career and set the tone for the rest of the night.

Isabelle Borke added another win to her season total, finishing with a 1:51.38 in the 200 Y Freestyle, trailed only just by Holly Lenarz with a second-overall time of 1:52.68. Katy Foley and Ginger Kiefer picked up the top two finishes in the 100 Y Backstroke with times of 55.68 and 55.76, respectively, and Kiefer took home the gold in the 200 Y Back, clocked at 2:01.20. Holly Lenarz won the 500 Y Free with a mark of 5:00.31, and Marie Mason picked up her second individual win of the day in the 400 IM (4:25.45).

On the diving boards, Maya Salvitti continued a strong season with a second-place finish in the 3M (327.15) and third in the 1M (289.13), having now qualified for Zone E in both events.

On Saturday, the Vandals returned to action against the Denver Pioneers. Salvitti picked up where she left off, picking up the gold in both diving events, earning scores of 293.48 in the 3M and 288.15 in the 1M. Amelia Ward earned the silver in the 1M, scored at 275.93.

Marie Mason picked up her second win in a row in the 1000 Y Free, nearly matching yesterday’s school record at 10:11.42.Madelynn Butler earned the top time in the 50 Y Free, clocked at 23.48, and was followed by Borke at 23.62. Ginger Kiefer picked up her second win in as many days in the 200 Y Back (2:02.18) and Courtney Crawford finished second in the 200 Y Breaststroke (2:20.67). MOSCOW, Idaho (October 31, 2025) – Northern Arizona Swimming and Diving opened its Halloween weekend road trip with a hard-fought battle against Idaho on Friday evening, falling just short in a 160.5–139.5 dual at the UI Swim Center.

The Lumberjacks showed strong depth throughout the lineup, led by senior Mackenna Stocker, who swept both diving events. Stocker captured the 3-meter title with a score of 330.45 and followed up with another victory on the 1-meter board (311.25). Sisters Grace and Margaret Wesche rounded out top-four finishes in both events, giving NAU a dominant presence on the boards.

In the pool, Elsa Musselman delivered a standout triple-win performance, taking first in the 200 butterfly (2:03.64), 100 butterfly (54.84), and 100 freestyle (51.73). Senior Cydnie Perkins added two individual victories in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.10) and 200 breaststroke (2:17.94), while sophmore Isahbel Krasht posted strong efforts with runner-up finishes in the 500 freestyle (5:02.70) and solid splits in relay action.

Head coach Andy Johns praised the team’s resilience and the quality of competition:

“Hats off to Idaho, they raced well and in the first of the meet took several first and second places which made it tough for us,” head coach Andy Johns said. “In the second half we raced really hard and got pretty close up until the last two events. I’m proud of Elsa who won three events tonight, Cydnie winning both of the breaststroke events and Isahbel stepping up. The divers were solid today and kept us in the meet down to the final two events. There are some things we did tonight that I’m excited about but hats off to the Vandals, they were ready and brought good competition. Now it is time for us to have a quick turn around and get ready for a really good Washington State team tomorrow.”

NAU returns to action Saturday morning in Pullman for a quick turnaround against Washington State, continuing its Pacific Northwest road swing. Swimming results are available on the MeetMobile app, with diving results posted on DiveMeets.com.
