LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty swimming & diving team kept its unbeaten fall going, posting a 149-107 victory over Campbell, Saturday at Johnson Aquatic Center.
With the win, Liberty improves to 3-0, while Campbell holds an 0-4 season record.

Notable
- Saturday’s meet featured a unique program, with seldom-competed events such as the 300 free, 600 free and 50’s and 150’s of each stroke.
- The Lady Flames won 13 out of 14 races today. With the meet score in hand, the final two races were scored as exhibitions for Liberty.
- Four Liberty freshmen earned victories, in Gwyneth Frick, Emma Herrera, Dakota Howard and Sadie Huenefeld. Frick (150 back, 100 IM), Aly Bozzuto (50 breaststroke, 300 free) and Kamryn Cannings (50 back, 50 fly) all won two events each.
- Liberty went 1-2 in both relays. The Lady Flames took the top two spots in the 50 back (Kamryn Cannings, Malia Francis), 50 breaststroke (Aly Bozzuto, Gwyneth Frick), 100 freestyle (Sadie Huenefeld, Dakota Howard) and 300 freestyle (Aly Bozzuto, Kaycee Cannings). Liberty went 1-2-3-4 in the 50 fly (Kamryn Cannings, Carly Larson, Malia Francis, Emma Herrera).
Historically Speaking
- Liberty is 26-2 all-time against Campbell in regular-season dual meets, winning each of the last 26 meetings. The Lady Flames won at Campbell (156-100) on Nov. 9, 2024 and posted a 289-58 win over the Fighting Camels, Jan. 31-Feb. 1, 2025.
- The Lady Flames hold a 46-6 all-time dual meet record in North Carolina.

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Arabella Butera topped a pair of events, but visiting Liberty topped Campbell 149-107 on Saturday at the Johnson Aquatic Center.
Butera claimed the day’s first win behind a 1:44.85 mark in the 150 breaststroke, followed by teammate Sophia Grubbs’ 1:48.45. The senior then helped Campbell sweep the top three spots in the 100 IM, posting a time of 1:00.76, with Grubbs (1:02.92) and Samantha Chemacki (1:05.05) taking second and third.
Katarina Gagnon added a pair of runner-up finishes, first in the 600 free (6:16.84), and again in the 150 back with a time of 1:34.20, while Nicole Rubino took second in the 150 free with a 1:24.69 mark. Rubino then added a season-best time for a Camel in the 100 free (54.01), taking third.
CU combined for nine points in the 150 fly, finishing second (Julia Garcia, 1:36.46), third (Alyssa Giovinazzo, 1:41.33) and fourth (Reese Bednar, 1:41.83), while in the 50 free, Camels took second and third with Kyndall Brown (25.29) and Bernie Musto (25.45) finishing consecutively.
Campbell also closed out the meet by topping the 200 free relay with a 1:39.44 mark.
The Flames (3-0) claimed the top finish in 11 of the day’s 14 events over the Camels (0-4).
Next up, the Camels will make a return trip to Lynchburg, Va. for the TYR ’85 Invitational, hosted by Liberty on November 21-23.
