The Roseville Sectionals. The earth-shattering news of yesterday’s session was Luka Mijatovic dropping a 4:05.76 in the 500 freestyle, making him the #3 performer in the event in history regardless of age and bringing his 15-16 NAG in the event 10 seconds swifter than when he first got it.

Even beyond Mijatovic, there was no shortage of elite level age group swimming in the central Californian pool.
Leading the charge were Lauren Lonsdale and Shareef Elaydi, who both hit #1 in national age group rankings for the 2025-26 season.
Elaydi did so en route to winning the boy’s 200 breaststroke. The 16-year-old Santa Clara Swim Club athlete threw down an incredible 1:55.12 in the final to top the podium. This obliterated his previous best of 1:58.81 from the 2024 PC Age Group Championships, and it shot him up to #1 among 15-16 boys in the event this season by a couple hundredths.
Lonsdale, a double winner from the previous night, put on her arguably most impressive swim yet on the third night. At 14 years old, she took the 500 freestyle with a feisty 4:45.11. The time erases her previous best that she put up one year ago at the same meet: 4:49.97. The effort tonight ranks her as the #1 13-14 girl by four seconds for the year. It also places Lonsdale in the same ballpark of what phenoms Audrey Derivaux and Riley Erisman were at 14 years old a couple years ago.
Even without going best times, the Tans of San Ramon Valley Aquatics had dominant evenings. Mikayla Tan captured the 50/200 breast double in times of 27.58/2:08.08. Both were uncontested wins. Tan, 16, already has the pole position among her age group in the nation in both events with 27.43 and 2:06.74 outings from earlier in the season.
Ayden Tan, who recently turned 13 after rewriting the 11-12 NAG record book, once again beat a final of high schoolers. This time he did so in the 100 back, clocking a 49.50. Earlier in the year, he became the fastest 13-year-old in history in the same event with a 49.40.

Huge swim from Elaydi!
I know he’s #3 for class of 2027, does anyone know if he’s committed anywhere?
I’m predicting Cal
Yeah i agree
although they just got a commit from a former SCSC/current Bolles kid yesterday, a breaststroker. Nothing’s stopping them from getting two breaststrokers but surprised nobody has swooped Elaydi yet. Maybe Stanford!?
Maybe or he just hasn’t decided yet
Cal area is so fast! Luka gets the headlines but Shareef is super consistent. And Ayden continues on a tear!
Sick swims! Btw, this is not central California, Roseville is north of Sacramento which is very much Northern California.
Debatable
Coach Kevin Zacher has everything to do with the success!! He is an incredible coach!
