Lani Pallister Breaking Katie Ledecky WR: “I have her autograph sitting at home from 2014”

2025 WORLD AQUATICS SWIMMING WORLD CUP – Toronto

Australian Lani Pallister turned heads on Saturday night in Toronto, absolutely crushing the world record in the women’s 800 free. Pallister touched in 7:54.00, slicing over 3 seconds off the previous mark of 7:57.42, held by distance GOAT Katie Ledecky. After the race, Pallister almost didn’t have the words to describe what it was like to break her first world record and to have it be one that was previously held by Ledecky. She sang the praises of Ledecky and said what an inspiration she has been to her.
