Kylie Masse Breaks 50 Back Canadian Record Leading Off Medley Relay

2016 SHORT COURSE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

After just missing it this morning, Kylie Masse took down her own 50 back Canadian Record leading off the 4×50 medley relay, clocking 26.49. Her old record stood at 26.65, set in February at the Ontario University Championships. This morning she led off in 26.67.

The Canadians were the top seed coming into tonight after going 1:45.49 in the morning, but ultimately finished 4th tonight in 1:46.00. The United States won gold in a new world record time of 1:43.27, followed by Italy (1:45.38) and Denmark (1:45.98).

Masse wasn’t the only one leading off quick, as American Ali DeLoof broke the American Record going 26.12. Both Masse and DeLoof will vie for medals later tonight in the 100 back, where Masse is the top seed and DeLoof 4th.
