Katie Ledecky stars in Stone Ridge School’s ‘Gators Go Turf’ mock-umentary

National High School record-holder. Olympic champion. Destroyer of world records. And now Katie Ledecky can add “movie star” to her list of accolades.

Ok, so it’s not quite a movie. But Ledecky did star in a faux-documentary for her high school’s “Gators Go Turf” campaign, designed to raise money for a new turf field to benefit the Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart’s athletic programs.

It’s easy to forget that Ledecky, currently the world’s most dominant swimmer and the star of the U.S. National Team 18 months out of the Olympic Games, is still just a high school senior. But Stone Ridge’s video plays on that fact, asking some interesting questions:

What would it be like to be a high school principal for a World Record-holding athlete? What if said principal challenged that student to a race? And what if that challenge accidentally went out to the entire school via the P.A. system?

You can check out the video above, courtesy of Stoneridgeschool on YouTube. The first six and a half minutes chronicle the race between Ledecky and Stone Ridge’s Head of School Catherine Karrels, and the remainder of the video is a speech Ledecky gave at a school function supporting the campaign.

Can the upstart Head of School pull off the stunning upset? Will Ledecky accidentally break a world record in a joke fundraiser swim for a school video? (Because when it comes to Ledecky, that seems like an actual possibility). The answers await in the video above!

Thanks for sharing our video. It was a memorable video to produce–Katie showed her humorous side in making this video. She is truly dedicated to Stone Ridge. Our Head of School Mrs. Karrels was a great sport. Just to note: the proper spelling of the school is Stone Ridge–two words.

Principal Karrels doesn’t look too bad in the water herself, aside from lifting her head to breath.

Exactly. If Katy teaches her how to breathe she cd be pretty good.

Funny video and a great idea! She is very well-spoken at that event in the end of the video too.
