John Carroll Gets Verbals From Two Potential OAC Championship ‘A’ Finalists

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Mary Hoffman, a senior at Mt. Lebanon High School in Pennsylvania, has joined John Carroll’s class of 2026 verbal commitments.

I’m very excited to announce I will be continuing my academic and swim

career at John Carroll University! Shoutout to my family, friends, and

coaches for all the support! #GoStreaks

She trains with Mt. Lebanon Aqua Club and recently dropped a 54.32 in the 100 free in late December, a second off her lifetime best time from 2019.

  • 200 free – 1:56.45

JCU’s men and women’s programs are the defending champions of the Ohio Athletic Conference  Championships in Division III.

Hoffman’s lifetime best 100 free time would have placed 3rd in the ‘A’ final and could earn her a spot on the Streaks’ ‘A’ 400 free relay which placed 1st at last season’s championship meet. Her fastest 200 free time would have earned her 4th in the ‘A’ final.

Current junior Ashley Lynch, JCU’s highest placing finisher in both these individual events in 2021, continues to lead the sprint and mid-distance freestyle group for the Streaks. She finished 4th in the 100 free with a time of 53.50 and 3rd in the 200 free (1:56.36).

Owen O’Neill, a senior at Seaholm High School in Michigan is another class of 2026 John Carroll commit with ‘A’ final potential at the OAC Championships.

While training with Atlantis Swimming-BBA, O’Neill posted his lifetime best 100 and 200 freestyle times in March 2021.

  • 100 free – 48.60
  • 200 free – 1:47.30
  • 50 free – 22.83R

O’Neill’s best 100 free time would have placed 4th in 2021 while his fastest 200 free time would have earned him 7th place in the ‘A’ final.

He will join the Streaks’ sprint and mid-distance freestyle group which is headed by current senior Forrest Campbell who won the 100 free in 2021 with a time of 45.04.

Jake Farr, a junior, leads the 200 free squad (he finished 2nd at the 2021 OAC Championships with 1:42.76). O’Neill’s older brother Aidan O’Neill, another junior, is also a vital part of the 200 freestyle with a career-best time of 1:42.80 from the 2021 conference championships.

Hoffman and O’Neill have joined Winter Juniors qualifier Joseph Nadur and Michigan-natives Olivia Goodman and Mairin Dalziel as part of John Carroll’s class of 2026 commits.

Both the Streaks’ men and women’s programs won the 2021 OAC Championships by a margin of more than 250 points under head coach Tanner Barton.
