Joe T. Robinson High Boys Break Three Meet Records, Repeat At Arkansas 4A-1A State Championships

It was a double repeat at the Arkansas Activities Association 4A-1A State Swimming and Diving Championships, with the Providence Academy girls and the Joe T. Robinson boys defending their titles.

The win was even sweeter for Joe T. Robinson, which broke meet records in three events before moving up to 5A next year.

Girls’ Recap

Providence Academy was led by sophomore Kira Workman, who worked her way to a pair of individual wins and was a member of two winning relay teams.

Workman won the 500 free in 5:00.48, and then won the 100 back in a personal best 57.80.

In the 200 medley relay, Workman split 26.99 in the fly to help Providence win with a time of 1:58.09. Other team members were Maddi Trivett (31.04), Jane Adams (32.74) and Adeline Ware (27.32). 

Workman later had a 53.81 anchor leg to help Providence claim the 400 free relay with a time of 4:02.01. The rest of the team was comprised of Trivett (1:01.81), Natalie Vandehoef (1:12.01), and Adams (54.38).

The other multi-event winners were Shiloh junior Holland Herron and Fayetteville Haas Hall sophomore Leona LiIkvornik.

Herron made it a double three-peat, once again claiming titles in the 200 IM (2:12.08) and the 100 breast (1:06.38) to improve her career total to six titles. Both of her times were personal bests.

Likvornik took the 200 free in a personal best 1:57.51 and the 100 free in 54.92.

Arkadelphia freshman Kambry Elgas won the 50 free in a personal best 26.04.

Shiloh won the 200 free relay with a time of 1:57.25 behind the team of Adelle Blackwell (29.69), Herron (25.90), Ellie Glass (31.76) and Nicole Fikes (29.90).

Boys’ Recap

Two of the three records broken by Joe T. Robinson came in relays.

In the 200 medley relay, the team of Felippi Markovic (25.40), Tate Schultz (27.31), Jack Bracey (22.97) and Quincy Telford (22.78) set a new record with a time of 1:38.46.

Later in the 200 free relay, the squad of Markovic (22.32), Schultz (22.61), Telford (22.66) and Bracey (21.48) set a new record with a time of 1:29.07.

Bracey broke the other record, repeating as champion in the 200 IM with a personal best time of 1:53.02. While not a record, Bracey also repeated as champion in the 100 free with a time of 47.14.

Markovic, a junior, was the other multi-event winner. He claimed the 50 free in 22.05 after finishing 6th last year, and won the 100 back in 56.69.

Another notable individual performance came from Camden Fairview senior Jenkins Robbins, who made it a career sweep in the 100 fly, winning his fourth straight title in a time of 52.29.

Other event winners were:

  • Providence Academy freshman Preston Green won the 200 free in a personal best time of 1:46.82.
  • Shiloh freshman Brice Allen won the 500 free in a personal best 4:58.53.
  • Haas Hall sophomore Mark Tanski captured the 100 breast in a personal best time of 59.99.
  • Providence Academy won the 400 free relay in a time of 3:52.20 behind the team of Nathan VandeHoef (1:06.78), Miles Pastoor (1:04.07), Samuel Kawatski (52.44) and Green (48.91).
