Italy Tops Early 2025 European SC Championships Medal Table

2025 EUROPEAN SHORT COURSE CHAMPIONSHIPS

We saw day one of the 2025 European Short Course Championships unravel today from Lublin, Poland, with multiple nations landing on the podium across both the men’s and women’s events.

Day one saw the nation of Italy take top honors, earning 3 pieces of hardware, including 1 gold and 2 silver.

The men’s 4x50m freestyle relay grabbed gold, while Simona Quadarella claimed women’s 400m free silver and the women’s 4x50m free also claimed silver.

Germany was next in line with 2 medals thus far, while Great Britain is in 3rd place with 2 medals as well, although the country has 1 bronze to Germany’s 1 silver.

Individual medalists tonight included Germany’s Isabel Gose reaping the top spot in the women’s 400m free while GBR’s Jack McMillan pulled the upset in the men’s edition of the race.

The Netherlands’ women’s 4x50m free relay topped the podium and the men’s version saw Italy grab the gold.

We have several days’ worth of action yet to unfold at these championshps, so expect the medal table to be shaken up as each session gets underway.
