BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana head water polo coach Taylor Dodson announced the 2021 schedule on Tuesday afternoon. The 22-game slate includes 10 home games at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington, Ind. The Hoosiers are also scheduled to play 12 contests in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF).

“Our team and staff are excited to get underway with the 2021 season,” Dodson remarked. “While we knew it would not look like past years, the plan we have provides a meaningful and competitive season. Our administration and the MPSF have supported our plan of maintaining the integrity of a challenging and full-game schedule, while putting the student-athletes’ health and safety first. We are fortunate for the opportunity to play and we intend to make the most of that opportunity.”

Indiana will open the season with six-straight home games, beginning with the Hoosier Invite on Feb. 6-7. IU will face both Saint Francis and Salem on both days. IU will then play host to Michigan for two games on Feb. 14.

The Hoosiers will then head north to Ann Arbor to face the Wolverines twice and Salem and Saint Francis once on Feb. 20-21.

In MPSF play, Indiana play each team twice over a weekend. IU will host UCLA (Feb. 27-28) and USC (Apr. 3-4) and face Stanford (Mar. 20-21), Arizona State (Mar. 27-28), San Jose State (Apr. 17-18) and California (Apr. 24-25) on the road. The MPSF Championships will be held on Apr. 30 through May 2.

Consistent with IU Athletics’ ongoing efforts to protect the health and safety of students, coaches, staff, spectators and the local community, water polo games at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center – will be played without fans indefinitely. IU Athletics’ decision is in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and is consistent with what has transpired on all Big Ten campuses.
