Illinois High School State Finalist Alexa Szadorski Commits to Indiana State

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

High school junior Alexa Szadorski has verbally committed to Indiana State University, where she is expected to enroll in the fall of 2021.

I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Indiana State University! I want to thank my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for always supporting me and helping me get to this point! Can’t wait to be a Sycamore! #rolltrees

Szadorski was a finalist at the 2019 Illinois High School State Championship meet in the fall of her junior year, finishing 8th in the 200 IM in 2:05.43. That finals swim is her best time in the event. She attends Oswego East High School and swims as part of the Oswego co-op team.

In addition to the 200 IM, Szadorski also excels in both the breaststroke and butterfly events, and also has enough versatility to be a future relay threat for the Sycamores.

Best Times in Yards:

  • 50 free – 24.27 (23.51 relay split)
  • 100 free – 52.68
  • 200 free – 1:55.36
  • 100 breast – 1:05.54 (sophomore year)
  • 200 breast – 2:24.52 (sophomore year)
  • 100 fly – 56.90
  • 200 fly – 2:05.65
  • 200 IM – 2:05.43
  • 400 IM – 4:39.55

When current Indiana State head coach Josh Christenson took over the program before the 2018-2019 season, the relatively-new program had only one swimmer from neighboring Illinois. In their last two incoming classes, however, there have been 3 swimmers from their neighboring state of Illinois.

Szadorski already has several times that are just-shy of A-final qualifying at the 2020 Missouri Valley Conference Championship meet, so she should be an immediate double-digit scorer for Indiana State after they finished 4th out of 8 teams last season. Her best time in the 100 free would have put her on last year’s top 400 free relay, as would her top 200 free relay split.

Alexa’s twin sister Abby Szadorski also swims, but has not yet made a college commitment. She has a similar skill set, with best times of 1:04.8 in the 100 breaststroke and 4:26.5 in the 400 IM. Both train with Delta Aquatics.
