Husson University Women Win Third Straight NAC Title, Men Finish As Runners-Up

The Husson University women finished second while the Eagle men placed fourth at the METRO Collegiate Championship held at the Rutgers University Aquatic Center in New Jersey.

First-year Eagle head coach Lauren Hoffman had the swimmers prepped to race as the women’s and men’s teams combined to establish 15 school records, 12 swim records and three diving records.

Led by Rachel Hand’s 4 record swims(100 free 55.29), (100 back 1:00.02), (200 IM 2:14.210, ( 50 back 28.40) and Kayla Payson’s 2 record swims 200 fly 2:18.73) (100 fly 1:01.76) along with Riley Mahoney’s 1 and 3-meter diving marks, the Eagles consistently swam best times in addition to the record setting performances to secure the runner up award in their first year of METRO competition.

 The Eagle men received individual records from Alex Walsh (200 back 2:00.92), (500 free 4:46.25), Ryan Emerson (100 back 54.20), Brady Hand (200 IM 2:00.17) and Spencer Bernat (3 meter 11 dives). The men also established records in the 400 free relay and the 800 free relay.

Husson University is a member of the North Atlantic Conference. This year for the first time the METRO Championship served as the NAC championship meet for men’s and women’s swimming and diving. Husson’s women’s team won their third consecutive NAC title while the Eagle men finished second.
