Men’s Swimmer of the Week: Jere Hribar, LSU
LSU’s Jere Hribar, a junior from Split, Croatia, secured four first-place finishes during the tri-meet win over No. 16 Alabama and No. 18 Florida State. Hribar touched the wall first with NCAA cut times in the 50 free (18.89) and the 100 free (41.48), both ranking in the top five nationally. He was also a part of the winning 400 free relay (2:51.25/44.22) and 200 medley relay (1:23.26/18.13).
Men’s Diver of the Week: Carson Paul, LSU
LSU’s Carson Paul, a senior from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, posted season-best scores to win both springboard events at the tri-meet win over No. 16 Alabama and No. 18 Florida State. Paul took home the gold in the 1-meter with a final score of 388.39 and in the 3-meter with a final score of 428.60.
Men’s Freshman of the Week: Falemana Tuufui, Kentucky
Kentucky’s Falemana Tuufui, a freshman from Briey, France, earned two first-place finishes at No. 12 Louisville this past week. Tuufui won the 50 free with an NCAA cut time of 19.25, which is now the top time in the event in program history and tied for 20th on the national charts. He also won the 100 free with a time of 42.96, placing him in seventh place all-time in the UK record books. Tuufui also swam the anchor leg of the second-place 200 medley relay (1:24.48/18.54).
Women’s Swimmer of the Week: Amy Riordan, South Carolina
South Carolina’s Amy Riordan, a senior from Martinez, Ga., earned four podium finishes in the win over No. 14 North Carolina. Riordan swept the backstroke events with a pair on NCAA cut times of 52.04 in the 100 back and a pool record time of 1:52.28 in the 200 back. She also swam the back leg of the winning 200 medley relay (1:38.06/24.69), which was the seventh-fastest time in program history, and leadoff for the second-place 400 free relay (3:18.34/49.50).
Women’s Co-Divers of the Week: Maria Majo Sanchez, Arkansas and Sophie Verzyl, South Carolina
Arkansas’ Maria Majo Sanchez, a sophomore from Mexico City, Mexico, won both springboard events in the win over SMU. Majo Sanchez recorded top scores on the 1-meter of 324.75 and on the 3-meter of 377.40.
South Carolina’s Sophie Verzyl, a senior from Columbia, S.C., won both springboard events in the victory over No. 14 North Carolina. Verzyl earned first place on the 1-meter with a final score of 342.75 and on the 3-meter with a final score of 347.03.
Women’s Freshman of the Week: Viola Petrini, Arkansas
Arkansas’ Viola Petrini, a freshman from Buonconvento, Italy, reached the podium seven times over two meets this past week for the Razorbacks. Against SMU, Petrini took first place in the 200 free (1:47.35) and was also a part of the winning 400 free relay (3:16.62/50.10) and 200 medley relay (1:39.35/22.04). She also took third place in the 100 free with a time of 50.05. Versus Little Rock, Petrini placed first in the 50 free (23.09) and was a part of the winning 400 free relay (3:20.50/49.62) and the third-place 200 medley relay (1:43.15/22.59).
