Houston Lands Verbal From Local IM/Backstroker Kaley Hoffman

The Houston women will be bringing in some local talent next season, as Houston native Kaley Hoffman has verball committed to swim for the Cougars next fall. Hoffman currently swims for Dads Club Swim Team, and will graduate from Westside High School at the end of this school year.

“I am so excited to swim for the University of Houston! The team is like a family and the coaches are amazing! Can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next 4 years! GO COOGS!”

Last season, Hoffman qualified to compete in both the 100 back and 200 IM at the Texas 6A High School State Championships. Her highest finish came in the 200 IM, where she clocked a personal best 2:05.88 for 12th. She also cracked the top 16 in the 100 back with her 15th place finish in that event.

Hoffman’s Top Times:

  • 100 back- 57.91
  • 200 back- 2:05.26
  • 200 IM-2:05.88

When she arrives at Houston, Hoffman will be joining a Cougars backstroke group that includes AAC backstroke champion Eleanna Koutsouveli and AAC finalist Jenny Penneck. Koutsouveli won both backstroke events at the conference meet as a freshman last season.

Adding Hoffman to the roster will also help the Cougars maintain depth in the 100 back after Jasmine Williams graduates at the end of this season. Williams was the bronze medalist in that race at the 2016 AAC meet.
