Harvard Women Post Unofficial Wins Over Northeastern, MIT In Scrimmage

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Northeastern women’s swimming and diving team split the Friday, Oct. 24 local tri-meet, taking a 161-136 win over MIT while dropping to Harvard 223-75.  Freshman Alex Fuller, juniors Mary Nordmann and May Bradburn, and Senior Kotoko Blair contributed to the Huskies’ performance by taking first place against both Harvard and MIT in the women’s 200 Free Relay.

  • Freshman Kailyn Aquino earned Northeastern’s top spots in both the 1M and 3M dives, placing 6th in the 1M with 237.75 points and 9th in the 3M with 229.85 points.
  • In the 200 medley relay, freshman Alex Fuller, sophomore Delaney Alonso, junior May Bradburn, and graduate student Elisabeth Bendall inched out the podium spot over MIT with a time of 1:44.25
  • In the 1000 free, freshman Abigail Gowern took third, touching the wall at 10:29.74.
  • Junior Mary Nordmann captured second place in the 50 free with a time of 23.78.
  • In the crowded 18-competitor 100 free, freshman Alex Fuller battled for a second place finish, missing first by a close 0.24.
  • Continuing the strong showing by freshmen swimmers, Sophie Bromley took the third place spot in the 200 back, while sophomore Delaney Alonso and senior Teagan Osga captured fourth and fifth place, respectively.
  • Freshman Alex Fuller earned another podium spot with a second place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.03.

The women will take to the road for a Husky vs. Husky match up in Storrs, Conn against UConn on Saturday, Nov. 8 at noon.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 4 MIT women’s swimming and diving team opened its season against Harvard and Northeastern on Friday night at the Zesiger Center Pool.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • 200 Medley Relay: Sydney SmithSarah BernardAnnika Naveen and Ella Roberson placed fourth with a time of 1:44.69.
  • 1,000 Free: Jessica Crane took fourth in 10:31.82.
  • 200 Free: Mary Feliz finished in 1:52.88 to take third.
  • 100 Back: Smith completed the event with a time of 56.86 to take third.
  • 100 Breast: Bernard finished fourth with a mark of 1:06.90.
  • 200 Fly: Natalie Tang took fifth in 2:10.38.
  • 50 Free: Roberson led the way with a third-place finish as she clocked in with a time of 23.83.
  • 100 Free: Roberson also took third in the 100 free with a time of 51.57.
  • 200 Back: Chloe Xu finished in sixth in 2:10.83.
  • 200 Breast: Bernard took third in 2:23.97.
  • 500 Free: Feliz took third with a time of 5:02.88.
  • 100 Fly: Smith finished sixth with a time of 56.72.
  • 200 IM: Feliz finished fifth with a time of 2:08.79 followed by Kathy Nie in sixth.
  • 200 Free Relay: Kailey Simons, Smith, Roberson, and Naveen placed fourth with a time of 1:36.01.
  • 1-Meter Dive: Logan Yee led the way for MIT with 244.45 points to finish fifth.
  • 3-Meter Dive: Yee took seventh with a score of 247.45.

UP NEXT:

  • MIT returns to the pool when they travel to Springfield on Saturday, November 1 for an 11:00 AM meet.
