Grousset Gets 100 Free Gold In 48.87 At FFN Golden Tour

2022 FFN GOLDEN TOUR NICE (FRA)

Day 2 of the 2022 FFN Golden Tour stop in Nice, France was on the quieter side, but still with some nice swims for both the men and women. Of note, Hungarian Olympian Katinka Hosszu was once again absent due to food poisoning.

Maxime Grousset logged a time of 48.87 to snag the men’s 100m free title, hitting the only sub-49 second time of the field.

Splitting 23.66/25.21, the 22-year-old scored a solid baseline outing for 2022. He owns a lifetime best of 47.52 from last summer’s Olympic Games, a result that renders him France’s 3rd fastest man ever.

Also for the men, visiting Swede Erik Persson got it done for gold in the 200m breast. He hit a time of 2:13.40 to beat the field by well over a second.

Charlotte Bonnet won her 3rd consecutive Golden Tour – Nice stop title in the 200 free. After winning in 2020 and 2021, she added a third straight win this weekend. Taking the title in a mark of 1:59.47, the 26-year-old put up the only sub-2:00 time of the field.

It’s her 5th all-time win at this meet.
