George Bovell Saves Deer During Photo Shoot in Trinidad & Tobago

George Bovell is not a delicate man. Despite the reputations laid within some, less informed groups, about shaved legs and Speedos, male swimmers are not all delicate, sensitive flowers.

Trinidad & Tobago’s George Bovell, 2004 Olympic bronze medalist in the 200 IM, is a true man’s-man. He free-dives to depths that would be intimidating to many even with equipment, he likes fast cars, and he’s a 6-foot-5-inch behemoth of a man.

And, he saves baby deer.

In the above video, told through the Art of Storytelling Vimeo account Bovell is on a photo shoot to promote the natural beauty of his home country, and at one point among cliff-jumping and swimming in the world’s biggest endless pool, they happen upon a deer struggling in the fast-moving river, which Bovell lifts and carries to safety.

Watch the gorgeous video above, directed by James O’Connor, and produced with the help of his team: Gizender Singh, Oliver Milne, Kacie Gonsalves, Dylan Quesnel, Anthony Fung, Kevin Huggins, Shane Hosein, and Ryan Khan.
