Fresno State Tops SJSU For Sixth Straight Dual To Wrap Regular Season

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Bulldogs wrapped up the regular season on Saturday afternoon with a 157-140 dual win over San Jose State at the SRAC Pool.

Winning six events and setting five new pool records on the day, the ‘Dogs won their fourth straight dual this season and sixth straight over the Spartans.

Junior Athena Clayson earned wins in the 100 Back (55.63) and 200 Back (2:00.26) setting new pool records in both events while senior Darina Khisiamova won the 1000 Free in a season-best time and pool record time of 10:14.21.

The 200 medley relay team of Clayson, Korrie TenganJulia Matney & Wiktoria Dabrowska notched the top time in 1:43.63 and the diving duo of Silvia Alessio (1-Meter) and Yuliya Tykha (3-Meter) rounded out the ‘Dogs winners as Fresno State posted 29 season-best times/marks in the dual.

The ‘Dogs head to the 2022 Mountain West Championships on Feb. 16-19 in College Station, Texas.

SAN JOSE, Calif.—The Spartans won 10 races Saturday afternoon, including two by Chloe Limargo on Senior Day, as the San José State women’s swimming and diving competed in the final home meet of the season against Fresno State at the SRAC pool.

  • San José State won 10 of the 16 races in the pool, nine individual races and the 400 freestyle relay.
  • Reagan Mathieson won 200 free with a career-best 1:50.05, 50 free with a career-best 23.60 and 100 free at 51.30.
  • Limargo won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:02.01, and the 200 breaststroke at 2:18.46.
  • Réka Kovács won the 200 butterfly (2:00.67) and the 500 free (4:59.14).
  • Zsófia Muzsnay won the 100 butterfly at 54.04, and finished second in the 200 free.
  • Ela Freiman won the 200 individual medley with a career-best 2:04.77. She also swam a personal best 10:34.75 in the 1000 freestyle.
  • In what could be considered one of the fastest meets on the San José State campus, 15 of the 16 pool records were broken on Saturday. The 16th record was missed by just .03 seconds.
  • Six Spartan seniors were honored prior to their final home meet – Daria CocolIda DueAnna Jabs, Limargo, Shelby Mullendore and Angelika Yngson.

San José State now prepares for the 2022 Mountain West Championships, February 16-19.
