Free/Fly Specialist Trent Schachter Verbally Commits to LSU

Trent Schachter, a senior from Arroyo Grande, California, has announced his verbal commitment to swim for Louisiana State University next fall. Schachter currently swims for San Luis Obispo Swim Club under Phil Yoshida and for Arroyo Grande High School under Russell Peterson. He is a four-time individual CIF-Southern Section Division II finalist and a key player on relays, helping Arroyo Grande to finish 3rd, 10th, and 7th in the Division rankings during his freshman, sophomore, and junior years.

Coach Peterson shared with SwimSwam, “He swam when he was younger but took a few years off before coming back to the sport as a freshman. He now holds three school records: the 200 free, 100 fly, and 100 back, and was also on the 400 free relay that both set the school record and made the state finals last season (placed 7th). He also placed 9th in the 100 fly at the state finals. He has been a six-time medalist in the CIF-SS Division II finals, and earned All-American honors this past season in the 100 fly and the 400 free relay. He has gone to Junior Nationals twice, last winter and this past August. He has been the team MVP his sophomore and junior seasons.”

Schachter’s best times include:
