Former Indiana youth swim coach Matthew Bills has been arrested and charged with 10 counts of child exploitation and possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
According to local news anchor Angela Ganote, last October, law enforcement received a tip that a user with the screen name “swimusadad” was uploading Child Sexual Abuse Material on the app KIK. After an investigation, Detectives traced that account to Billis, who currently works at the State of Indiana Department of Administration. The charges are for alleged crimes that occurred between April and August of 2025.
Police say they found 33 images and 26 videos of children being sexually abused. That includes a video of a child being raped. Police also allege that the account sent messages to other users on KIK talking about fetishes involving young children.
One message says “What is the youngest and oldest you have? I would love to see young ones,” according to the police records.

Bills’ home was searched on November 20 and he resigned his position with the state on December 11. He was arrested on Wednesday.
Bills’ LinkedIn profile says that he worked at the Noblesville Swim Club from November 2016 through June 2017. He was last a USA Swimming member in 2017.
He also managed the aquatic staff, including building a swimming program, at Life Time Fitness in Indianapolis from 2014 through 2016; and from 2007 through 2012 was the Athletic Director at the Sumter Family YMCA, where he says he assisted the YMCA swim team “by coaching participants of 4-21 years old.”
Bills also posted frequently on social media about swimming, including that he intended to go to the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials in Indianapolis.
Bills’ wife, who has not been implicated in any crimes, is a prominent figure in the local swimming community. There is no public record of Matthew Bills working for any of those programs, and those programs have confirmed to SwimSwam that he never worked there.
Bills does not yet appear in the US Center for SafeSport Database.

Thank you for sharing a pic to go with the name. It is helpful when you have kids that are swimmers and can at least recognize a known offender if they are near a deck. Truly sad and sickening that kids are continually targets to these sicko’s. Makes it scary to leave your kids anywhere anymore. Please teach your kids about safety and that they do have a voice. Let them know who or where they can turn to if anyone ever touches them inappropriately.
Who does his wife work for? If she’s prominent, we should all have awareness to keep kids safe. She may not be involved, but people should be aware.
I request the second to last paragraph be removed from the article. By writing that the wife is “a prominent figure in the local swimming community,” it invites readers to become curious and search for her name even if it didn’t cross their minds. I will admit that I searched. And now she and her kids who didn’t do anything wrong are getting pulled into this awful ordeal.
Free speech and safety and awareness should prevail. People should know where there was potential risk in order to protect children. Parents have a right to know.
Would it be more relevant if that prominent swim club has seen 2 coaches added to the SafeSport banned list (one under 10yrs ago and one about 30 years ago)?
How would we find this information? Is there a database to look by club? Parents want to know.

I am lost for words.
Appreciate you reporting this and using a face shot. Thank you swimswam. As terrible as it is to read these predators need to be seen.
I really wish we took these types of crimes seriously in this country, but alas the powers that be are the biggest culprits
Devastated for his wife and especially his kids.
And for the children that were abused and raped! Horrible.
How do you know she wasn’t aware of his behavior? She could be an enabler.
As stated in the article, his wife has not been implicated in any of the crimes.
Depraved.
