Cambridge, Mass. (August 3) — Aaron Green has been named as the men’s and women’s swimming and diving assistant coach/communications, promotions and marketing assistant, as announced by Dr. G. Anthony Grant, MIT director of athletics/DAPER department head. Green comes to MIT from Arcadia University (Pa.), where he has served as the men’s and women’s swimming head coach and aquatics director since April 2022.

“I want to thank Dr. Grant, Meg Sisson French, Ken Johnson, Jr., and the entire search committee for this incredible opportunity,” said Green. “I look forward to learning and working with Coach Meg to continue the ongoing academic and athletic excellence of the MIT Swimming and Diving Program.”

In the 2022-23 season, Green guided the Knights to a runner-up finish on the men’s side at the MAC Championship, along with a fourth-place finish by the women’s squad. The women’s team earned 12 All-Conference selections, while the men’s team had 20 student-athletes recognized as All-Conference performers.

“We are so excited to welcome Aaron Green to the MIT Swimming and Diving family,” said Meg Sisson French, Mary Frances Wagley, ’47 Head Coach. “Aaron is an outstanding coach who really believes in creating a great experience for student-athletes and challenging them to be the best they can be. Aaron is going to be able to hit the ground running and bring a great deal of experience, passion, and excitement to our team this season. I’m confident Aaron will be an excellent addition to our program, DAPER and the overall community of MIT and we can’t wait for him to get started this fall!”

Prior to his time at Arcadia, Green was the head coach at Hollins University in 2021-22 and had previously served as a graduate assistant for two years at the University of Lynchburg. At Lynchburg, the coaching staff was honored as the ODAC Coaching Staff of the Year in 2021 after leading the women’s team to a conference title and the men’s program to a runner-up finish.

“I am very excited to have Aaron join our staff here at MIT,” said Ken Johnson, Jr., director of communications, promotions and marketing. “His experience in the pool both as a coach and student-athlete, as well as his passion for college athletics, will help us build on our tradition of excellence for the swimming and diving programs. His creativity and positive energy will also make him a great member of our communications, promotions and marketing staff and the MIT community overall.”

A 2019 undergraduate of Widener University, Green graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in communications studies: public relations, advertising and marketing. As a student-athlete at Widener, he was the 2016 Middle Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year, the three-time Middle Atlantic Conference Male Swimmer of the Year and the 2019 Widener University Male Athlete of the Year.

Green went on to earn his Masters in higher education leadership from the University of Lynchburg in 2021.
