FINA Posts Broadcast Clearing Lists for Global World Championships Coverage

FINA, two weeks ahead of the beginning of their World Championships (three weeks ahead of the beginning of the swimming portion), has released their full clearing lists for where the events can be watched in all of their member countries.

See that list below, ranging from Algeria to Zimbabwe and everywhere in between.

For most of where our audience lies, the highlights are that the meet will be carried on Universal Sports in the United States, Eurovision in Europe, Rogers Sportsnet in Canada, and RedeRecord/Globosat in Brazil. Oddly, no broadcast outlet is listed for Australia yet, but we’ll update that when it is available.

We were in Norway and Iceland for the first week of the Athens games, and we’re so amazed by the live broadcast of swimming and other Olympic events. You actually saw the heats of each race like you were there. Imagine our disappointment when we returned home for the remainder of the games to the NBC broadcasts of packaged Olympic highlights, often hours after the actual events took place, and pre-recorded feature segments on only the US athletes. Have actually considered taking a trip to Canada just to watch the Olympics! U.S. TV has hundreds of channels here, most of which air totally stupid reality shows. Not sure why the US Olympic committee doesn’t demand better coverage.

BBC willl also do a very good coverage live as in 2011 ! For the ones who have never been to Usa , they can’t be aware of how TV sucks there . Advertisment kills movies or anything u want to watch in a complete mode . I experienced Us tv and it sucked the whole way .

Not sure if a local network will carry it live in Indonesia (tbc), but I will be able to watch live on cable on several channels: eurosport, KBS, star sports and CCTV, just like last year’s olympics.

Here in France it’s free and live on the public channels with the prelims and the finals. It’s also live on eurosport (prelims and finals) for those who have the channel.

Unfortunately, I’m guessing that France does not have the same amount of massive corporations that buy ad space along with sporting events on their public television or cable channels. It’s unfortunate for the US, not for France.
If an event does not draw large financial possibilities ( such as our pro-sports here that are all capitalist business such as our National Football, Basketball, and Baseball leagues ), its not likely that sporting events without massive amounts of corporate and private funding get fair air time or notice.
USA Swimming not being a privately owned business with the amount of corporate fundraising that the other sports have, it is often over looked and put on the back burner, relegated… Read more »

I’ve generally been able to find a live stream of Eurosport during the event. Keep checking back when swimming is about to begin – likely someone will find and post the URL.

You listed Kosovo as a country. Kosovo is a part of Serbia.
