BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men’s and women’s swim teams hit the pool one last time in 2022 on Tuesday morning to host the FAU Fun Invite. Though the meet was not officially scored, it was a competitive battle of the Owls on both sides. FAU’s women team faced the Rice Owls women’s team, while FAU’s men raced amongst themselves.

Women (Against Rice)
- FAU finished on top in the 200 medley relay. The ‘A’ team (Roberta Circi, Julia Earnshaw, Grace Molinaro, Amelia Robertson) tallied a time of 1:47.84
- Lauren Wright took the gold in the 100 back (1:00.05). Kristen Hobson also had a strong performance in this event, placing in third (1:00.42)
- Robertson placed in second in the 200 back (2:07.37)
- Molinaro earned second place in the 100 fly (57.93)
- Dolores Margni swam to third place in the (2:08.4)
Men (Racing Against Each Other)
- Alec Peckmann was the top dog for FAU in the 100 IM (51.25) and 50 free (21.13)
- Team co-captain Jackson Kirk won the 200 Yard (1:44.5)
- In a tight battle, Max Ahumada edged out Luke Beals in the 100 back, with Ahumada’s time of 54.29 just beating Beals’ time of 54.31
- Freshman David Arneskov finished in first place out of eight Owls in the 100 free (46.68). He also won the 100 fly (50.64)
- Timo Paisley took the victory in the 500 free (4:47.28)
Next on the schedule for the Owls is the Pre-Conference Diving Invite on Jan. 3. The competition in Miami will offer a chance for the FAU divers to earn NCAA Zone Cuts.

Lauren McDougall captured three events and Sini Koivu and Zoe Spitz each won twice as the Rice swimming team wrapped up its Florida training trip by competing in an unscored competition with FAU on Tuesday in Boca Raton, Florida.
McDougall captured the 100 IM, 50 free and 500 free, Koivu took the 100 and 200 breaststroke events and Spitz touched the wall first in the 100 fly and 200 IM. The Owls also picked up individual wins from Arielle Hayon (200 fly), Lauren Hurt (100 fly) and Katherine Sammy (200 back).
Head coach Seth Huston divided the relays by class and the senior teams captured both events. Spitz, Koivu, Chloe Corbitt and Sophie Reilly outpaced the field in the 200 medley relay while McDougall, Ginny Qian, Adalyn Armistead and Kate Jablonski ended the day’s action with a win in the 200 free relay.
“This meet closes out our training and competition week in South Florida. I know the team is tired and has trained and competed very well this week,” Huston said. “Today, a number of different Owls won events; Lauren McDougall, Zoe Spitz, Sini Koivu, Katherine Sammy, Lauren Hurt, Arielle Hayon and Kate Jablonski anchored home the senior relay to victory to finish off the meet. Now, we can look forward to some time at home to recover and enjoy family. Looking forward to an exciting 2023.”
The Owls will return to competition on January 13 when they face SMU, North Texas and Tulane at the SMU Triple Dual in Dallas. That event kicks off the countdown to the Owls’ first appearance in The American Athletic Conference Championship, which begins in Dallas on February 15.
