Eve Labrie, 15, Sets New Quebec Age Group Record in 200 Back on Day 3 of Quebec Senior Cup

On the final day of action of the Quebec Senior Cup, 15-year-old Eve Labrie finished 2nd in the women’s 200 backstroke, but notched the Quebec Age group Record in 2:11.82, lowering the previous record from Gabrielle Soucisse (2:12.19), set in 2006.

Women’s Results

Marjorie Trudel was the top women’s finisher in the 400 freestyle, clocking 4:49.63, just under a second faster than Raphaelle Levesque in 4:50.58.

Charlotte Brousseau was victorious in the 200 butterfly, taking the win by nearly a second, turning in a final time of 2:14.40.

Romane Hereng led the way in the women’s 100 breaststroke, finishing in 1:08.25, almost a second and a half faster than runner-up Nathalie Day in 1:09.75. Hereng and Day were the only two sub-1:10 finishers in the event.

Labrie finished 2nd in the 200 back behind Florence Robitaille, who won the race in 2:10.03.

Ainsley McMurray swam the fastest 100 freestyle by nearly a full second in 54.25, Rowan Baglole was 2nd in 55.21.

Men’s Results

Darius Dumais stormed to a near eight second win in the men’s 400 free, touching in 4:09.81. Nicolas Drolet was the next closest finisher in 4:17.43.

Sebastien Coicu continued his solid showing in Quebec with a win in the 200 fly, clocking 1:57.82, a near two second margin of victory over Tristan Labarre in 1:59.57.

Lucas Morin completed the breaststroke sweep with his 100 breast win, clocking the lone sub-minute swim in 59.61. Nobody else in the final swam under 1:01.23.

Loic Courville-Fortin dominated the 200 back, clocking 1:55.65. William Jacques and Lurier Lafontaine-Giguere were the only other two competitors under the 2:00 barrier at 1:59.20 and 1:59.69, respectively.

Maxime Cambron claimed the final individual win of the Quebec Senior cup in the 100 free, narrowly outtouching Guillermo Cruz Zuniga (49.97) with his final time of 49.76. 3rd-6th place were separated by just six hundredths of a second of each other; including a 3rd place tie between River He and Karl Abou Ghannam at 50.12.
