Sports Swim Organisation has signed an agreement with Eurosport, for the broadcast of the Prudential Singapore Swim Stars, live, in 51 countries across Europe.
Prudential Singapore Swim Stars will happen for the first time in Singapore on 5th September 2014, with more than 40 of the best swimmers from 13 different countries who will battle for supremacy in a unique showdown at the spectacular new Aquatic centre in Singapore. Among the 12 Olympic Champions and 21 World Champions lined-up are James Magnussen (Australia), Katinka Hosszu (Hungary), Jessica Hardy (USA) RĆ«ta MeilutytÄ (Lithuania), Nathan Adrian (USA), Fabien Gilot (France), and Jeanette Ottesen (Denmark).
A unique concept in line with the publicâs expectations
The event was created with the idea of inviting the worldâs very best sprinters. The program, without any heats, will feature only semi-finals and finals. It is therefore the perfect format for a live broadcast: the 2 best swimmers in the 50 freestyle event ending up competing head-to-head in a showdown. The thrilling competition will combine the very best of athletic performances and a superb show.
As Stephan Caron, two-time Olympic medallist, and one of the founders of Sports Swim Organisation, puts it:

Who remembers Stéphane Caron ? he was from the period of Matt Biondi as a 100 very tall talented freestyler . Very good idea to put some of the best together and race . Many new special short meets are popping up . The sport is having probably more attention with time .

I was a very little child in 1988 and I didn’t watch the olympic games but I know that France survived in swimming at that time only thanks to StĂ©phan Caron and Catherine Plewinski. Both carried literally French swimming on their shoulders.
Unfortunately Plewinski had to swim against East Germans who cheated.

With a 2-foot start, in speedos, no cap, no dolphin kicksâŠ.it’s crazy…
Add to that poor underwaters & the fact that Biondi did not start training full-time until very late in his youth (I think he kept playing waterpolo in his college years). Even though some might say that the latter kept him from burning out.
