Elle Chancey, Tampa, FL-based swimmer out of the Berkeley Barracudas club, has verbally committed to compete as a Washington and Lee University General swimmer.  Chancey will bring her sprint freestyle talents to Washington and Lee as she makes her move to the Lexington, VA-based university for the 2015-16 season.

Chancey has put up some swift 50y and 100y freestyle times while competing for both her club team, as well as for Berkeley Prep School.  At the 2014 Florida Spring Senior Championships, Chancey clocked a 24.32 in the 50y free, which is her best time to date.  At last year’s Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Championships (1A), Chancey finished in ninth place in the 100y freestyle, with a time of 52.84.

Most recently, Chancey was the winner of both the 50y freestyle (24.57) and the 100y freestyle (52.72) events at FHSAA Regionals to help lead the Berkeley Prep School women to a Class A, Region 3 Title.  As Washington and Lee has five seniors set to graduate this Spring, Chancey will most likely immediately be able to contribute to this Division III school’s squad.
