GREENVILLE, N.C. – Redshirt junior Frida Zuniga Guzman took first place in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives in a diving only event Friday afternoon inside Minges Natatorium against NC State.

Guzman, the reigning Diver of the Meet at the 2024 AAC Championships, posted a point total of 300.68 in the 1-meter and 327.53 in the 3-meter taking top honors. Sophomore Olivia Templeton took third place in both dives with scores of 255.75 (1-meter) and 255.83 (3-meter). NC State’s Ahston Zuburg finished second in both with 258.30 (1-meter) and 262.95 (3-meter).

Pirate freshman Kinsley Baker finished fourth in the 3-meter dive (240.38) and fifth in the 1-meter (244.58).

“I was excited to see our divers compete in their first meet of the season, and they did not disappoint,” said ECU Head Coach Matthew Jabs. “Going up against ACC competition is always a challenge and I appreciate NC State allowing their divers to come and compete with us today.”

“Thought our girls dove well for the first meet of the year,” said ECU Diving Coach Ryan McIntire. “We have some things to clean up, but that will come as the season progresses. They have been working extremely hard, so I’m pleased with where we are at.”

The Pirates (swimming only) returns to action at home against Campbell on Oct. 25 at 5 p.m.
