Distance Freestyler/IMer Graham Barrett Commits to Louisville

South Shore YMCA’s (SSYS) Graham Barrett has given his verbal commitment to the Louisville Cardinals for their class of 2020. Barrett is a distance freestyler and 400 IMer, with Winter Juniors cuts in the 500 free and 400 IM along with a Winter Nationals cut in the 1650 free. He attends Hingham High School in Massachusetts.

Barrett’s Top Times

  • 200 free – 1:43.00
  • 500 free – 4:32.61
  • 1650 free – 15:24.80
  • 400 IM – 3:58.18

The ACC is a tough conference– nevertheless, Barrett would’ve placed 21st in the 1650 free and scored points for the Cardinals in an event where they only had two scorers last season. While he would’ve been pretty far out of the 500 free finals, Barrett is well within striking range of the 3:56 it took to C final last year in the 400 IM.

The bulk of Louisville’s class of 2020 thus far has been distance freestylers– Keegan Foulke is 4:27.81-15:31.99 in the 500-650, Sam Steele is 4:26.86 in the 500, and Jarrett Jones is 4:28.25 in the 500. Jones and Foulke are both strong IMers, with respective times of 3:50.70 and 3:51.64 in the 400 IM. They also have a sprint weapon in Andrej Barna, who is sub-23 in the 50m free and almost sub-50 in the 100m free.

The now four-strong Louisville men’s class of 2020 consists of Keegan FoulkeSam SteeleJarrett Jones, and Andrej Barna.
