2016 Olympic Champion Maya DiRado has been handed the key to the city of Santa Rosa, California. When the four-time Olympic medalist arrived home last week, Santa Rosa Mayor John Sawyer presented her with the key to the city, the first time in 12 years it’s been given to anyone.

Mayor Sawyer said in a statement. “I was extremely happy to have been able to present on to Ms. DiRado.”

DiRado was also presented with a ‘Certificate of Achievement’ in honor of her performances in Brazil. The 23-year-old grabbed the gold individually in the women’s 200m backstroke event, while also claiming silver and bronze in the 400m IM and 200m IM events, respectively. DiRado was also a crucial component of Team USA’s gold medal-winning 4x200m freestyle relay.

Even before the Games began and her in-pool success realized, DiRado held steadfast her post-Olympic plans of starting a career at Atlanta, Georgia-based consulting firm McKinsey & Co in January.

Beautiful smile and happy spirit. I thought this about Maya BEFORE she won medals. I’m kind of sad that, with no medals, another beautiful smile and happy spirit of Missy Franklin is all but forgotten. (But not by me. Missy is fabulous win or lose.) Ah, but America loves the winners …

I think she is already married to a former Stanford swimmer named Rob Andrews. There are many other available females on earth………Just sayin’.

But, the real questions is whether Ryan Lockte will get keys to Rio, or at least a toilet to Rio so he does not have to break it down?
I know, I know, everyone is sick of that story.. just could not help it.

He tore down a poster. The brazilians police lied about breaking the lock and the vandalism in the basement.

That is the first positive comment I have ever seen you make on any story on this site. Good job Scott!

Thanks. But I leave lots of positive comments. Sadly, there is not much positive to say about Ryan Lochte and his shameful antics and lies, nor about Efimova, Yang, and all the other drug cheats I complain about.

Those other guys u mentioned will have the fair share of tribulations to deal with anyway . No need to keep attention there for now – it doesn’t sound necessary
