Portuguese world champion Diogo Ribeiro took a win last night in the 50 fly at the Swim Open Stockholm. Swimming from Lane 1, Ribeiro touched first in 23.03, a season best by .02. Reflecting on his season after the race, he said he has been working on high speeds in training, with a long-term goal of breaking the world record in the 50 fly, held by his friend, Andrii Govorov. Ribeiro recognizes this as a lofty goal, but also knows he is only 21-years-old and has time to develop as a sprinter.
