One thing that Olympic, World Championship and Commonwealth medalist Alicia Coutts has always been motivated to do is give back to the community and inspire young swimmers.
Coutts, who has struggled with injury and poor performance in the pool in the last year, gave a swim clinic in Dubbo last weekend. Dubbo is a city of approximately 130,000 people in New South Wales.
Coutts gave talks as part of a swim clinic which was attened by 200 athletes and parents. The content of the talks included goal setting, training and education on competitive swimming as a whole.
“Alicia’s story will inspire young swimmers to compete at higher levels and to chase representative honours,” Dubbo City Counsil director of Parks and Landcare Murray Wood told the Dubbo Weekender.
In the past Coutts has been highly involved in several similar clinics around the country. She has also given a lot of her time away from the pool to help with the Special Olympics and the RSPCA animal shelters.
