ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell women’s swimming and diving team secured a 147–96 victory over St. Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon at Teagle Pool. The Big Red held the lead throughout the afternoon and secured the team result with steady scoring.

Cornell won the 400-yard medley relay in 3:45.21, with the relay group of Rosalee Springer, Min Xu, Mingna Xu, and Jungmin Yoon finishing first. Cornell closed the meet with a win in the 200 freestyle relay, as Mingna Xu, Springer, Ariel Lin, and Kate Li combined for a time of 1:33.20. Erin Dehollander led the distance events, winning the 200 freestyle in 1:51.84 and the 500 freestyle in 5:00.33, while Li also won the 50 freestyle in 23.36.

Springer won the 100 IM in 56.61, Isabel Peng won the 200 butterfly in 2:06.68, and Katherine Ferreira captured first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:21.02. On the boards, Brooke Andrews placed second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, while Morgan Ogata finished third in each.

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell men’s swimming and diving team earned a 143–99 win over St. Bonaventure on Saturday at Teagle Pool. The Big Red scored consistently throughout the meet, finishing first in both relay events and posting several individual victories. Cornell built its advantage early and maintained it through the final events.

Cornell opened the meet with a win in the 400-yard medley relay, as the A relay of Gabe AnagnosonHaihan XuDaniel Simoes, and Jacques Grove touched first in 3:14.98, with the B relay finishing second in 3:19.27. Grove followed with a win in the 200 freestyle (1:39.54), while Julian Correa won the 400 IM in 3:54.49. Josh Toothman added a victory in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.80.

Daniel Simoes won the 100 IM in 50.39, Pietro Ubertalli won the 200 backstroke in 1:44.13, and Haihan Xu captured first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:59.46. Cornell closed the meet with a win in the 200 freestyle relay, as the relay group of Daniel SimoesGabe AnagnosonJacques Grove, and Soren Koschmann finished first in 1:21.59.

ITHACA, N.Y. – Despite turning in several season-best performances against Cornell, St. Bonaventure women’s swim and dive team came up short in their first action of the New Year as the Bonnies scored 96 points to the Big Red’s 147.

Two of those season bests were Phoebe McClaren’s 10:22.20 first-place finish in the 1000-free and her 5:05.99 third-place finish in the 500-free. Samantha Schnappauf claimed third in that 1000m race, with another season-best finish of 10:31.90.

Sophie Baker’s 23.69 runner-up finish in the 50-free was another Bonnies season-best time.

Kate Hill and Anna Bojana Forjan picked up where they left off in the first half of the season, both claiming winning finishes and season-best times. Hill finished the 100-free in 51.78 seconds, Forjan finished the 200-back in 2:02.01.

Katie Lyons and Paris Christie’s 2:23.68 and 2:24.37 200-breast performances held the second and third-place finishes behind Cornell’s Katherine Ferreira’s 2:21.02. Grace Purtell and Nele Vetter occupied the 200-fly podium in the same fashion: Purtell’s 2:07.87 finish and Vetter’s 2:08.85 were second and third to Cornell’s Isabel Peng’s 2:06.68.

The 200-freestyle relay team of Kate HillMia HillAnna Bojana Forjan and Sophie Baker posted a runner-up performance, touching in 1:35.62, while the 400-medley relay of Sophie BakerParis Christie, Isabella Giupatto and Kate Hill earned a third-place finish with a time of 3:49.74.

Dhavgely Mendoza and Lia Doskoris claimed first-place finishes in their respective events, Mendoza scoring 288.23 from the 1-meter board and Doskoris scoring 269.33 from the 3-meter board.

ITHACA, N.Y. – Senior diver Ben O’Neill paced the St. Bonaventure men’s swimming and diving team in a 143-99 dual meet loss at Cornell on Saturday afternoon, earning podium placement from both boards.

The Royal Oak, Mich. native posted a winning score of 320.85 points on the 1-meter board before placing second on the 3-meter board with 319.28 points, ending the session as the Bonnies’ best finisher and the only SBU representative to secure two individual podium finishes on the day.

Freshman Brady Huettl had a strong day as well and placed fourth on both the 1-meter (267.23) and 3-meter boards (222.15).

The Bonnies followed a positive showing in diving with multiple strong swimming performances.

Sophomore Mark Mizsei captured victory in the 200-fly (1:46.80) and was followed by freshman David Mutter in second place (1:50.01). In the very next men’s event, first-year Bonnie Emanuele Zingaro earned a win in the 100-free (45.25).

Junior Johnny Edwards posted a winning time of 4:34.67 in the 500-free as well, being joined by freshman Matheus Rinaldi on the podium in third place (4:38.64).

Bonaventure’s juniors also shined in sprints as Joseph Pyon and Carlos Hidalgo earned second (20.92) and third place (21.17), respectively.

Sophomore Connor Peck earned a second-place finish in the 400-IM (4:03.83). Later, fellow second-year Bonnie Grant Chapa supported the individual medley success by finishing third in the 100-IM (52.47). He was closely trailed by senior Boray Goren in fourth (52.52).

The Bonnies also locked down two podium placements in relay action.

Zingaro, Chapa, Mizsei and freshman Marcos Bravo posted a time of 3:20.67 which was good for third place in the 400-medley relay. Zingaro, Pyon, Hidalgo and junior Paul Wissel then combined for second place in the 200-free relay, which closed out the meet.

Other strong Bona performances included Mark Polos’ third-place finish in the 200-breast (2:04.69) and a second-place finish in the 200-back by Henry Wilkes (1:50.87). Luigi Termine followed Wilkes in third place with a time of 1:52.81.
