The men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams each won their respective meets against Southern Connecticut State University on Friday at Hutchinson Natatorium in New Haven. The men won 153-123 score while the women’s team claimed a 158-126 victory.

The Huskies grabbed first place finishes in 22 of the 32 events to win their third-straight dual meet of the season. The Huskies swept both the men’s and women’s diving events. The freshmen trio of Erin Clifford (First), Elizabeth Drab(Second) and Alyssa Annenberg (Third) secured the top three spots in the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions.

Sophomore diver Kyle Kennedy won the 1-meter dive (249.53) and freshman Torrington took first place in the 3-meter (266.93).

Sophomore Brazil Rule seized multiple victories in the 50-yard (24.58) and 100-yard freestyle (53.34) just ahead of teammates, Jennie Novak and Maddy Blair.

Julie Hu led the way in the breaststroke events with wins in the 100-yard (1:08.47) and 200-yard (2:26.07) races.

Mark Hunter and Kyle Kimura captured multiple victories on the men’s side. Hunter dominated the breaststroke with triumphs in the 100 (57.88) and 200-yard (2:06.29) events. Kimura snagged first place in the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard freestyle.

In the only relay of the night, the Huskies won both 200-yard medley relays. Annika GrewalJulie Hu, Dani Bordes and Maddy Blair attained first place in the women’s relay while Will Kearsey, Mark Hunter, Kyle Kimura and Kyle Dunlap took first for the men.

Next up, the Huskies return home for a dual meet against Army at 5 p.m. at the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium.

MEN: The Southern Connecticut State University men’s swimming and diving team lost a 153-123 decision to UConn this evening.

TOP FINISHERS

-Junior Tyler Steskla (Cheshire, Conn.) placed second in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:17.53 followed by teammate freshman Graeden Sartoris (South Windsor, Conn.) who finished third with a time of 10:30.52.

-Freshman Bryce Murad (New Haven, Conn.) finished second in the 200 freestyle with a finishing time of 1:48.35.

-Sophomore Max Padro (West Haven, Conn.) placed second in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:59.11.

-Senior Tyler Vander Vos (South Windsor, Conn.) came in second place in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.00.

The Owls will host Pace on Nov. 10, with the meet to begin at 5 p.m.

WOMEN: The Southern Connecticut State University women’s swimming and diving team lost to UConn 158-126 in today’s home meet.

TOP FINISHERS                           

-Freshman Jordan Thompson (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) placed second in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:24.51. Freshman Alina Tucker (Bellmore, N.Y.) and junior Samantha Soto (South Plainfield, N.J.) finished third and fourth for the Owls in the 1000 freestyle with times of 11:37.27 and 11:38.21.

-Sophomore Hannah Morse (Loveland, Colo.) placed third in the 100 backstroke with a finishing time of 1:02.42.

-Senior Lilly Martin (Bristol, Conn.) finished third in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:16.42.
